April is finally here…

Spring is Here… Flowers are Blooming… Riders are Riding…
Time to Uncover those Bikes/Trikes and Take that Baby for a Ride.
Maintenance Tips
Monitoring the tires is part of the basic maintenance for motorcycles/trikes and is often over looked. It is advisable to check the pressure and the grooves of the tires before beginning a journey, making sure that they do not have cracks, holes, tears or any wear that can put your safety at risk. Weather and ground conditions can affect the tires, you should not only look for damage but also rot. Once the tires are worn, don’t wait too long to change them.
If the tires are over-inflated, there is less contact with the road and therefore less grip. If they don’t have enough air, the tire wall will be less stable, sometimes to the point of making braking and handling very tricky.
This month’s motorcycle maintenance tip is to check the tire pressure regularly with a pressure gauge, but only when they have cooled down. If they have heated during the course of a ride then they will read differently.
Weather is warming up, Check Your Tire Pressure.
Need some new tires, give us a call.

Spotlight Kit

8009152_orig

Spolight Kit of the Month is a Honda Goldwing 1800 Kit from Champion Trikes. Fits on Honda Goldwings from 2001-2017. Knowing the power and performance of the Honda GL1800 motorcycle, the engineers at Champion knew it would be no easy task to produce a motorcycle trike kit that would complement this powerful motorcycle. The suspension would have to be designed to endure high speed and be agile enough to avoid unexpected driving hazards, yet ride comfortably in undesirable road conditions. And our engineers knew our trike would have to be just as reliable and dependable as Honda’s superb machine. For More Information on this trike kit… Click Here.

Maintenance Tips

Brake pads can easily be seen since motorcycle brakes are out in the open:
* It’s easy to regularly inspect brake pads and check for wear.
* Brake rotors should also be inspected for cracks.
* While checking rotors and pads, look at the brake hoses going to the calipers and check for fluid leaks, bulges or cracks. The rubber hoses are subject to high pressure and with age and exposure to UV rays can crack and allow fluid to leak.

JUNE has Arrived with a NEW Manufacturer.

We’re now carrying a new manufacturer at American Bike and Trike. A New Manufacturer is Here!

Tilting Motor Works, Located in Washington.

The Reverse-Trike Design that leans. Two wheels in front means more rubber on the road and better stopping power. And each of those wheels can soak up a bump that might throw you on a regular bike. Anyone who rides a bike knows the pure liberty of life on two wheels, and the hazards that lurk around every bend in the road.

Want to convert into a Trike but want to continue to Lean.

Harley Davidson and The Baby Boomer.

Rejoice Baby Boomers…. We have found your Nirvana!  Trikes, Reverse Trikes and Quads that are designed for Harley Davidson.

Q-Tec.  An amazing product that allows your H-D to be converted in a multitude of ways.  Each kit is inter-changeable.  Want a Trike?  Yep.  The Q3R, Mamuth and Classic.  Want a Reverse Trike?  The beautiful Q3F.  Combine them together make it a Q4 or even a Super Q.

q4quad.jpg

The Q-Tec system is like no other motorcycle conversion system you have ever seen.  It requires no welds or frame modifications to install. (The motorcycle can be returned to OEM if you decide.)  The design is a Formula One inspired suspension that offers handling, front, rear or quad, that you just can’t find on any other trike that is built.  We, at American Bike and Trike, build trikes from all of the major manufacturers.  From Lehman and MotorTrike through Hannigan and RoadSmith.. but we have never seen the incredible agility, ease of steering or the comfortable ride that is standard on every Q-Tec kit.

Many of us have, as we get older or run into medical issues, find that riding a Motorcycle isn’t as easy as it once was… But if we want our “knees in the breeze” we need to find solutions to our riding dilemma.  Terry and Roxane of American Bike and Trike have found that solution. Q-Tec.  And it is absolutely the most enjoyable trike (or quad) to ride.

The Scout looks awesome with a Sidecar!

DSC03176.JPG

It started life as a New Indian Scout…
Late this summer we purchased a few Indian motorcycles from our local Indian dealer.  We were excited about the Scout.. and from the very first day we had it… we knew a Champion Vintage sidecar was perfect for this motorcycle.

We ordered this new design sidecar from Champion… (in fact we ordered two)… Like one of our Custom Hannigan Trikes.. we wanted to commemorate the introduction of the Scout model in 1928.
DSC03779.JPG

We called JC at Rolling Art in Tempe.. bounced around some ideas.. and this is what he and Terry decided to move with.  You have to admit it is pretty cool.
Then, of course, we had to change the seats out. Black seemed to be a good choice.

We also wanted to bring a bit of custom “Indian” flair to the side car as well.

Adding the “War Bonnet” and an Indian tail lamp to the sidecar fenders did the trick.

Our shop is full, the team is working on collision repairs for a few trikes, rebuilding a rear axle on another, replacing brakes and other service work.. in addition to the other motorcycles currently being converted in the shop.. so finding time to build this was sort of a passion or a goal for the guys in the shop.

So, as they got closer and closer to finishing the project… those of us on the front side of the shop started to get really excited.  This sidecar was going to be really cool looking, handle like a dream and be extremely fun to ride.  (Although it’s new and Terry won’t let me take it home)  Someone is going to have the most awesome Scout in town.

What? October Already?

What happened to September?  Perhaps we missed it… I don’t know.  Doesn’t matter really, October is here.  American Bike and Trike loves the late fall and winter.  We are in Arizona so this is prime riding season.. and the winter visitors, those retired folks that want to turn their bikes into trikes, descend upon Phoenix and Tucson adding a much needed boost to our economy.

dsc03669

Perhaps I should bring you up to speed…

We launched our new web site.  American Bike and Trike .com.  The site is easy to navigate and shows the Trikes, Quads and Sidecars we have available for sale.  It also shows a preview of the projects currently in our shop that should be ready for sale in just a few weeks. This new site is a huge leap forward for us… It was truly needed as we have started fielding calls from all over the country in the last few months.  Love it!

dsc03683

A new section of our site is dedicated to service.  Yes we convert motorcycles.. but with 7 manufacturers, as authorized dealers we are required to perform warranty work from time to time.  And that is okay… but people don’t know that we have brand new state of the art tire mounting and balancing tools.. we are also an Amsoil dealer. Both Chris and Kyle, our primary mechanics, are devoted to detail and providing our customers with an excellent experience.  Because of the demand for this type of work, we have made it easy for our customers to schedule their service or warranty needs on the web site.  Oh.. perhaps you didn’t know.. we do collision and insurance work as well.  In for a penny… in for a pound as they say. (Our shop rate, by the way is only 75.00 per hour.. well below any of our competitors in the Phoenix market.)

Kyle: Builder and Certified Motorcycle Mechanic

American Bike and Trike’s busy season is here, as we have said.  To that end we have polished our showroom, laid out all of our projects and completed trikes so that the television commercial people could take some great video and photographs. Our phone always rings like crazy after these commercial shots, so if you get a busy signal when you call… cool.  Just be sure to call us back.  480-218-5822.

Okay… I have spent enough time on the computer this morning.  Have a great weekend, enjoy the ride… And we will be changing our hours come November.
